The Challenge

Zinio is a digital newsstand that launched a tablet reader which shipped with the first generation iPad. To maintain an advantage against rising competitive threats, they wanted to create a bold disruption in the marketplace, presenting customers and publishers alike with an innovative model for discovering, purchasing and consuming digital magazine content.

The Impact

The re-designed reader sought to create a rich reading experience with high-fidelity visual imagry that replicates the pleasure of leafing through a magazine and leverages the digital medium to share and grow social engagement and make it easy to discover content.

The team relied heavily on emerging trends. We created a quick proof-of-concept of the reader for the Zinio technical team and validated ideas for a new pricing model that allows subscriptions to five magazines for five dollars a month, and access to articles from hundreds of other magazines that can be read on any device, anytime; table, smart phone or desktop.
