Role: Senior Vice President, Product Development

The Challenge

Although very successful in their first two years at developing partnerships, editing and chaptering video into bite-sized idea nuggets and establishing a strong brand promise,’s site experience was confusing.  It was difficult to navigate, easily identify new content, share video and start conversations around ideas. A re-visioning was necessary and mandated by the Board of Directors.

The Impact

I was brought on by the CEO to establish and lead a Product Development team that included Engineering, Interaction Design, Visual Design, QA. The team’s charter was to implement an Agile development process, develop a product roadmap and redesign the site experience on an aggressive six month schedule.

All that was accomplished on schedule, within budget. We launched the new site experience to accolades that included being named one of the “Top 50 Websites of 2009” by TIME, and one of the “Top Educational websites” by the Within four months the new site experience increased membership by 150% and time spent watching video by 15%.
